By order of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, in the context of the continuous National Guard upgrade effort, the Hellenic Army General Staff conducted the 3rd Pan-Hellenic National Guard Shooting Competitions, which have been enriched with new shooting competitions. The competitions aim at upgrading the National Guard Units’ operational capabilities, through the improvement of the National Guards combat ability.
The 3rd Pan-Hellenic National Guard Shooting Competitions were conducted in four phases. Phase A was conducted in February-May-June, with the participation of the total National Guard Battalions, to asseble the shooting teams of the ten National Guards. Phase B was conducted in June, with the participation of Phase A winners, to present the best National Guard Battalions and National Guards, in a Formation level. Phase C was conducted in September-October, with the participation of Phase B winners. Phase D was conducted on Sunday Nov 21 in the respective Firing Ranges of C ARMY CORPS, D ARMY CORPS and THE HIGHER MILITARY COMMAND OF INTERIOR AND ISLANDS Formations. The results are as follows:

1st place: IGOUMENITSA NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 453/500 (90.6%).
2nd place: KALYMNOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 408/500 (81.6%).
3rd place: DIDYMOTEICHO NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 371/500 (74.3%).
Individual
1st place: National Guard Dionysios Sotiriou, of IGOUMENITSA NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 10/50 (100%).
2nd place: National Guard Vasilios Dimou, of IGOUMENITSA NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION got the same grade with National Guard Member Nomikos Vazanelis, of KALYMNOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 10/48 (96%).
3rd place: National Guard Andreas Choikas, of IGOUMENITSA NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, got the same grade with National Guard Emmanouil Chourdas, of KALYMNOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION and National Guard Christos Polychronopoulos, of DIDYMOTEICHO NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 10/47 (94%).

1st place: National Guard Leonidas Syrris, of VRODADOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 40/40 (100%).
2nd place: National Guard Ioannis Petrakis, of AGHIOS NIKOLAOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, got the same grade with National Guard Member Ioannis Lemonias, of VRODADOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION and National Guard Elias Moulelis, of FLORINA NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 37/40 (92.5%).
3rd place: National Guard Ioannis Tsortsoris, of DIDYMOTEICHO NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 35/40 (87.5%).
Pair
1st place: National Guard Georgios Arhavlis and National Guard Ioannis Petrakis, of AGHIOS NIKOLAOS NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 365/400 (91.25%).
2nd place: National Guard Dimitrios Stoikas and National Guard Konstantinos Anagnostou of SIDIROKASTRO NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, got the same grade with National Guard Stefanos Fragakis and National Guard Ioannis Tsortsoris, of DIDYMOTEICHO NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 360/400 (90%).
3rd place: National Guard Fotios Stefanidis and National Guard Nikolaos Krimtsialis, of KOZANI NATIONAL GUARD BATTALION, with a grade of 335/400 (83.75%).
The National Guard Units and the National Guard will be awarded honorary distinctions and the total of the participating National Guards will be awarded Commemorative Diplomas. The Hellenic Army General Staff congratulated both the winners and the total of the National Guards for their voluntary participation, which displays their enthusiasm for the institution.
